White Car Cleaning Tips
When it comes to cleaning your car, it’s super important to pay close attention to detail and make sure you do a dazzling job.
This is even more essential when the car is white. White cars are far more susceptible to visible dirt, but it doesn’t have to be this way. If you use the correct cleaning practices for your white car, you can ensure that your white car is always as clean as it can possibly be.
If you’re not sure how to go about this task, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Read on to find out about our top tips on how to keep your white car clean!
How often should you wash your white car?
When it comes to washing your white car, it should be pretty obvious that it is going to require a more regular clean than cars of another colour.
Even from just a single journey, your white car is likely to be splattered with road grime, caked in pollen, and all sorts of other dirt that is less noticeable on any other colour. With a black car for example, you might be able to get away with having a week worth of dark grime as it would be barely noticeable.
However, white cars will bring out the colour of this dirt, so it’s important to tackle it as soon as possible.
It’s hard to put an exact number of how often you should wash your car – to be honest, our answer is ‘as frequently as possible’.
Ultimately it depends on how often you drive, for how long, and what the terrain is like where you are driving. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so we recommend having one deep pressure-washer and snow foam clean per week, on top of daily wipe downs!
This weekly deep clean will help you keep on top of your white car, preventing any grime from building up noticeably. In between these deep cleans, we think it’s a good idea to assess the cleanliness of your car on a day by day basis.
This may take five minutes out of your schedule daily, but that’s a small price to pay for a shiny white car!
How to clean your white car
The process of cleaning your white car will be very much the same as a classic vehicle deep clean, but with a couple of extra steps.
Firstly, you’re going to want to ensure that you have access to a pressure washer, car shampoo or snow foam, and both a variable pressure nozzle attachment and a foam gun. Apply your snow foam or car shampoo and get scrubbing with a clay bar.
Clay bars are fantastic tools for maximising your detergent’s power. They’re far more efficient than a classic sponge or cloth, but don’t stop there!
Clay bars are fantastic tools for scrubbing away grime, but finishing the job there is a serious rookie mistake! Without further action, clay bars can be abrasive and have a negative impact on your paint job. Do not worry though, because this is easily avoided.
Simply purchase some wax and apply it to your car to ensure that your paint job is thoroughly polished. This will prevent the marring of the paint job and will reverse the abrasive nature of the clay bar.
This step is essential – do not skip it, because you’ll be doing your car an injustice!
Tips to keep your white car shine
Avoid sharp objects and bits in your cleaning solution
This may seem pretty obvious, but it is absolutely essential that you avoid using any form of sharp cleaning materials when it comes to cleaning your white car.
Some of the more abrasive sponges may be appropriate for a black car, but for a dazzling white car it could cause some serious damage! Throw away any questionable clay bars and sponges and purchase yourself something that is a brand spanking new.
This way, you can ensure that there are no rough edges or artefacts preventing your tools from serving their purpose.
You will also want to ensure that your cleaning solution is consistently diluted – any bits floating around could scratch your paintwork in the same way as a sharp object would!
Remove dust and dirt before washing
It’s always important to ensure that you remove any dirty residue from your car before you get to work with the detergent or snow foam.
The reason for this is that even the slightest bit of a physical residue such as a speck of hard dirt or a leaf could accidentally be rubbed into the paintwork and scratch it!
It’s always worth taking an extra five minutes to have a walk around your car with a torch and assess the vehicle for any visible dirt.
Ensure that you have conducted this assessment and cleared away any obstacles, and you can be sure that you can continue your car wash without the chances of any unhappy accidents!
Always use the right equipment
Humans by nature can get a bit lazy at times, so it’s easy to settle for whatever tools we have available to clean our white car.
Stop right there!
Perhaps taking shortcuts is OK for darker coloured cars, but when it comes to white cars you want to ensure that everything is completely kosher to avoid any mistakes.
Essential tips include ensuring that the detergent you choose is appropriate for white cars, ensuring that any cloths or clay bars you use do not have any sharp edges, and ensuring that you are not using unnecessarily high amounts of water pressure!
All of these things could dramatically turn a fantastic car wash into a white car disaster, so it is absolutely essential that you ensure you are using the right equipment before you get stuck into the dirty work.
