What is the best pressure washer to buy for home use?
If you are looking for a great pressure washer for home use, then you could effectively pick any one off this list.
If you have the budget and perhaps have neglected your driveway and patio for a number of years then the Karcher K7 will be a great option.
If you want to save a few quid and you take good care of your home so you don’t need such a heavy-duty unit then the K2 or K3 would be a perfect fit for your home. These two units will clean concrete, just not to the same level at the K5 or K7.
The K2 & K3 are perfect for cleaning garden furniture and you can still use the Karcher app for tips and tricks as well as pressure recommendations.
As they all have variable pressure control, using any of them for car cleaning is also an option, pressure washing a car can leave it much cleaner than using the garden hose, just be sure to not put the pressure too high as you could damage the paintwork.
Overall, we would recommend the best pressure washer for your home, based on the Karcher pressure washer reviews above, the new Karcher K7 with smart control is the top choice.
If the K7 is out of your budget or you simply just don’t want to spend that much then the cheaper, slightly less powerful Karcher K5 is the runner-up. It’s also available with smart control making it super efficient and easy to use around the home.
Which is better Karcher K2 or K4?
In many ways, you could argue that they are bettering in their own ways but you want to know which one to buy and you have boiled it down to these two models… then we will outline the details for you.
Firstly, there is very little difference in the pressure output of these two models. From the K2 you can expect between 20 and 110 BAR pressure and from the K4, 20, and 130 BAR pressure. At the top end, you are unlikely to notice the difference between 20 BAR pressure.
But where the difference does play a part is with the water flow rate, the K2 offers 360 LPH whereas the K4 can bag you 420 LPH resulting in a huge 10 sqm difference in the area cleaned each hour with the K2 at 20sqm/h and the K4 at 30sqm/h.
Upgrading to the K4 will also bag you an extra 3m of hose length. The entry-level K2 electric pressure washer only offers a cheap standard, 5-meter hose length whereas the K4 power washer offers a larger 8-meter hose length.
Both units can pull from a standing water source and have a built-in hose reel for easy hose storage.
Although the minimal differences there is quite a large difference in the weight of each unit. The Karcher K2 only weighs 4.3kg, making it lightweight and great for all cleaning tasks.
The Karcher K4 pressure washer weighs a much larger 11.4kg making it slightly harder hard to transport.
This isn’t too much of an issue if using it for cleaning patios where you might focus on one area for longer but can be more of an issue when using it for car cleaning or cleaning tasks that require lots of movement.
Is Karcher K5 better than K4?
Well, we have heard about the Karcher K4 above when we compared it to the Karcher K2 and we have to say, we really do like it as a home pressure washer.
Although is you have the budget, you might want to go for the Karcher K5 electric pressure washer.
Pressure washers come in all shapes and sizes, but looking at them, you probably wouldn’t be able to see much of a difference between the K4 power washer and the K5 washer Karcher has made.
If you are just looking for something for cleaning your car, then stick with the cheaper K2 but if you are looking for something with power, more than 130 bar you get with the K4, and something perfect for all cleaning jobs then the K5 is for you.
Compared to the K4’s maximum pressure washing output of 130 BAR the K5 offers an additional 15 BAR topping out at 145. Adding to that the ability to be controlled from the Karcher app via Bluetooth you have yourself a sophisticated bit of kit.
You can expect an additional 10 sqm/h cleaned with the K5 coming in a 40 sqm/h. This is due to the extra 80 LPH water flow you get above the K4 at 500LPH.
Even with all this extra power the unit only weighs 1.3kg more than the K4 weighing in at 12.7kg.
You also get a 2-meter longer hose, 10 meters compared to 8m, with the K5 so you have a slightly better reach.
Overall, if you can warrant the extra money then go for the K5 pressure washer. Its got more power, better for cleaning your car, and the best trigger gun, identical to the top-of-the-range K7.
Does Karcher Make Good Pressure Washers?
Karcher pressure washers are known to be some of the most popular brand of pressure washers in the modern-day and were actually one of the first companies to create the conventional style we use today.
It’s safe to say that pressure washers wouldn’t be what they are today without Karcher, but are they any good?
After all of our research and reading thousands of reviews I think it’s safe to say that Karcher do make a good pressure washer and even though you might pay a premium, you will have a good quality unit that will last you years if looked after.
